There are a lot of associations in Sweden - over 200 000. Nine out of ten Swedes are members of at least one association. Life in an association is important for many people and many new members join different associations every year. They wish to learn how to practice the democratically traditions, that rule the free and voluntary life of the associations. This book gives a clear and easy framework for learning the rules that govern that tradition in order to support the individual member's situation in the association.

In associations, it is the member who decide. They elect the most important "tools" - the committee, the auditors and the nominating committee - at the annual meeting. . In the model in the introduction to the book this perspective is central and we hope you will approve of it!? The book will then follow that model and describe "a year with the association". The author - Rune Nilsson - has extensive experience of working in associations and he has also written a lot of book on the subject.
